On the occasion of World Children’s Day
New website offers valuable child safety resources and access to its children’s library
For immediate release
Sharjah, November 25, 2020
Following the recent global celebration of World Children’s Day on November 20, the Child Safety Department (CSD), an affiliate of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs (SCFA), has launched a new website in a bid to offer stakeholders seamless access to information about its programmes, initiatives and events designed to raise awareness about child safety and protection issues.
The website (https://childsafety.gov.ae) utilises a user-friendly platform allowing visitors to view and register for upcoming events and workshops, and grants easy access to CSD’s library of storybooks for children, in addition to four informational booklets on home safety, distance learning, Ramadan etiquette, and back-to-school tips.
Links to important resources on child rights and protection, including the UN’s Convention on the Rights of the Child, and the UAE’s Child Protection Law (Wadeema’s Law), are also available on the new website.
Information about Kanaf, the interdisciplinary, multi-agency child protection centre that will be inaugurated soon in Sharjah to provide legal, psychological, and social services to child victims of physical and sexual abuse, has also been included.
The website highlights CSD’s partner organisations and lists the child hotline number managed by the Sharjah Social Services Department. A feedback and comments section for the site’s visitors has also been provided.
Organisations can utilise the website to submit requests to CSD for organising workshops on various subjects, or to partner with the department on its programmes.
